Direct answer

What is Auto Trader Connect?

Auto Trader Connect is Auto Trader's API platform for making permitted data and services available inside approved third-party dealership systems.

AutoHub360 uses that connection to bring supported dealership work into one operating environment. The precise functions available depend on the Auto Trader products and capabilities enabled for the retailer.

Connected workflows

Work from the DMS without losing the Auto Trader context

The integration connects operational steps that would otherwise sit across separate stock, insight and digital retail views.

Stock operations

Create, update and reconcile stock

Manage supported vehicle records, media, price, availability and advertising lifecycle actions through the appropriate Auto Trader stock capabilities.

  • Stock and advert updates
  • Baseline stock synchronisation
  • Update notifications
Vehicle intelligence

Bring permitted vehicle context into the DMS

Use enabled Auto Trader services for vehicle identification, taxonomy, valuations, Retail Check, vehicle metrics and competitor-market workflows.

  • Vehicle and equipment data
  • Valuations and retail metrics
  • Competitor-market context
Digital retail

Continue eligible Auto Trader deals

Receive supported Deals activity and keep the available customer, reservation, message and part-exchange context connected to dealership follow-up.

  • Deals inbox
  • Reservation lifecycle
  • Messages and part exchange

A connected Advertiser ID does not automatically unlock every service. Each workflow needs its corresponding Auto Trader capability.

Data integrity

Returned by Auto Trader—or clearly unavailable

Valuations, retail metrics and market information can influence real buying and pricing decisions. AutoHub360 preserves the source instead of filling gaps with guesses.

When Auto Trader does not return a supported value, the interface shows no data. It does not replace a missing valuation, rating or metric with zero or a locally invented result.

Response handling

Evidence stays attached

Returned intelligence

Display the documented value and its available scope.

Missing value

Show unavailable instead of manufacturing a number.

Failed request

Surface the error and available trace references for investigation.

Connection process

What an Auto Trader setup requires

The dealership account, AutoHub360 connection and enabled services must all refer to the right retailer.

01

Identify the retailer

Use the dealership's Auto Trader Advertiser ID to associate the correct account.

02

Confirm capabilities

Establish which Auto Trader products and API capabilities are licensed and enabled for that retailer.

03

Validate the connection

Test the configured account and surface any permission or configuration problem that blocks access.

04

Build the baseline

Synchronise the permitted starting data before ongoing supported updates and notifications continue.

Commercial access remains separate: connecting AutoHub360 does not replace the dealership's Auto Trader account, advertising package, capability licences or approval process.

Ongoing operation

A connection needs monitoring as well as setup

AutoHub360 combines ongoing synchronisation with visible connection and error context so dealers can tell the difference between a data gap, a permission problem and work that needs attention.

Baseline and updates

Reconcile permitted stock and continue with supported update flows.

Notifications

Receive supported changes from Auto Trader where the capability provides them.

Connection health

Validate the configured retailer and investigate access failures.

Traceable errors

Retain available status and request references when support needs evidence.

Questions answered

Auto Trader Connect integration FAQs

What is Auto Trader Connect?

Auto Trader Connect is Auto Trader's API platform for making permitted stock, vehicle data, valuations, retail metrics and other enabled services available inside approved third-party dealership systems.

What can the AutoHub360 Auto Trader integration manage?

Depending on the dealership's enabled Auto Trader capabilities, AutoHub360 can support stock and advert updates, stock synchronisation, vehicle lookup, valuations, Retail Check information, vehicle metrics, competitor-market workflows, vehicle checks and eligible Deals activity.

Does every AutoHub360 dealer receive every Auto Trader feature?

No. Access is capability-based. The dealer needs the relevant Auto Trader account, products, permissions and activation for each service they want to use.

Can AutoHub360 publish vehicles to Auto Trader?

Where Stock Updates and the required advertising capability are enabled, AutoHub360 can create or update eligible stock and manage supported Auto Trader advertising destinations and lifecycle states.

Where do Auto Trader valuations and retail metrics come from?

AutoHub360 displays supported valuations and retail metrics from documented Auto Trader API responses. If Auto Trader does not return a value, AutoHub360 shows that the data is unavailable rather than substituting an invented figure.

How does a dealership connect Auto Trader to AutoHub360?

The dealership supplies its Auto Trader Advertiser ID, confirms that AutoHub360 is authorised for the required services, and completes any capability activation needed through Auto Trader. AutoHub360 then validates the configured connection before supported synchronisation begins.

Does AutoHub360 replace the Auto Trader contract?

No. AutoHub360 provides the software integration. The dealership remains responsible for its Auto Trader account, advertising package, product licences and commercial agreement with Auto Trader.
